So Close I Can Taste It… It Tastes Fluffy and Successful

The past week has been one of the best two weeks since leaving university last June. I have learnt so much and have gained the confidence to go ahead and start being serious about being a part-time business. I can’t thank Alan and his team from PopUp Business School for all the advice and tips. If YOU are someone thinking of starting your own business, look them up and join their free workshops. It will change you, and that I am serious of. So many of us that attended were unsure of ourselves when we started, but now we have a set of skills under our belts that will effect how well we will create and make our businesses.

Tomorrow we are all presenting ourselves to the public in Newport Market 1-4pm. Myself will be there to exhibit my art, and also doing a demonstration on needle felting.

So many ideas and opportunities are ahead of me and I cannot wait for them to all come at me. I am ready.

Christmas Robin

Happy Christmas! (10 days early, I know, but I am in the festive mood)

So what do you think of my card design? Obviously without the self advertising text.

Robin Card

Shall I do other designs ready for next year? (Cannot do them for this year as it is too late for printing last minute etc.)

If anyone is interested in seeing more, let me know! I would love to do more designs and sell them!

Comic Con Part 1 – Props

Once again, for the second time, I will be going to Comic Con in Cardiff! Last year I dressed as Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly but with Jayne Cobbs hat.

Here is your clue for this year:

He is made out of felt (and a bit of ribbon) and also hollow inside! Keep an eye out to find out why and for your next clue!

July Update: Exhibition, Graduation and Relaxation

Gee, it sure has been busy, so here is a quick note on what has been happening!

As part of the end of the year for my course in Illustration, we had to display our work at Swansea’s Grand Theater. It went really well during the opening, practically a full house! Every ones work looked great upon the walls, and the speech by the tutors was so touching! I will miss them all! Well, maybe some of them. Here is a sneak preview of part of my display featuring the needle felt work pieces for the project I had been working on. (More on that in the next post, keep an eye out for it!)

me and felt

Me with my needle felted self portrait. Please make note this was my first ever attempt at a portrait in wool!

Then last month we displayed our art at Londons New Designers show! There were so many universities brought together, and so much inspiration was to be found! My work looked like an ant compared to the vast greatness of the other universities. Like my Facebook page (Sarah Gurmin Art) to see the photos and videos I posted from London! My friend Laura tries on an occulus rift(?)!! Look on my Instagram page (@fortheloveoftheart) to see the photos of my new Teddy friend and our adventure in London!

Finally, the bad and good news….

Bad: My adventure as a BA Illustration student comes to an end…

Good: I got accepted onto the Integrated Masters course for Illustration! And so the journey continues, but onto another level, WOO!

Be expecting to see more of my work posted over summer, as I practice before heading back to University for one last year. And then be expecting to see even more work when I start in September! Hahah!

Keep an eye out!

Like my Facebook page Sarah Gurmin Art for updates on my work, Twitter @SarahGurminArt to see snippets of things and my new Instagram @fortheloveoftheart for my general life.
